Drivers headed to Iowa across the Government bridge will once again be able to avoid being caught by the open draw span.
Rock Island Arsenal officials announced Thursday, October 24, 2013, that the light indicating to Illinois drivers that the Government Bridge draw span is open to barge traffic has been repaired.
Not only that, but a new LED sign has been installed for drivers coming from the downtown area.
The project began in August and wrapped up on October 16, 2013.
The work included fixing and moving the old neon sign, adding the new LED sign and replacing the wired connection to the bridge with a new radio controlled switch.
