Illinois State Police Get Doctors And Organ To Hospital

ILLINOIS - The Illinois State police helped get three people from the University of Chicago Medicine and a heart ready for transplant after the vehicle they were in got a flat tire Thursday.

KWQC TV6 reports that a Facebook post Thursday showed troopers arrived at 4:20 a.m. to I-55 northbound at Throop Street. Inside the vehicle was the organ and a surgeon, a transplant coordinator and a medical student. They were on their way from Midway Airport back to UChicago Medicine's Hyde Park Campus when they had car problems.

The troopers transported the three medical staff and the heart to the center so they could continue with the surgery.
