Suspect arrested following Galesburg stabbing

(Galesburg, IL) -- A man is behind bars following a stabbing in Galesburg.

The Galesburg Police Department says on Tuesday, 21 year old Junior Wallace was arrested for aggravated battery in connection to the Sunday stabbing. Investigators say on Sunday, officers were called to St. Mary’s ER about a stabbing victim.

Police say once officers arrived at the hospital, they spoke with a 54 year old man who was stabbed in the left side of his back. The victim told officers that he was stabbed by Wallace during an altercation at a home. Police say the victim was not cooperative and didn't want to press charges.

The victim was later transported to St. Francis Hospital in Peoria for the treatment of his injuries.

The Galesburg Police Department conducted an investigation into this case and eventually arrested Wallace. He is currently in the Knox County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
