Mike Bender, Johnson’s swing coach and 2009 PGA of America National Teacher of the Year, will host a free swing clinic as a new feature of the 19th Annual Four Oaks Golf Classic, sponsored by Lil’ Drug Store Products. The clinic will feature Mike as he demonstrates key swing techniques, uses a few audience members to provide swing tips, and takes questions from the gallery.
The clinic is open to the public and will be held at the Cedar Rapids Country Club at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 10. Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and pre-registration is not required.
Immediately following the clinic, there will be “Cocktails with the Coach.” In the relaxed, poolside environment, Bender will interact with the group and provide commentary on a hilarious bloopers video of golfers throughout the country. The event will also be held at the Cedar Rapids Country Club and will begin at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $25 per ticket. Registration is encouraged and may be made online at www.fouroaks.org. For more information, call 319-784-2021.
The swing clinic is presented by ESCO Group and General Mills, with Bender’s visit sponsored by Dr. D.M. Fitzgerald and Associates and Vision in Motion. All proceeds from the Four Oaks Golf Classic go to the Four Oaks and Jane Boyd Achievement Academies.
The Four Oaks Golf Classic has raised more than $2 million since its beginning in 1994. Golfers tee-off on Monday, June 11, with a shotgun start.
Golf Digest Magazine ranks Bender as the 4th Greatest Teacher in America. He has coached nearly two dozen PGA, Champion and LPGA tour professionals.
Four Oaks, headquartered in Cedar Rapids, is one of the state’s largest child welfare, juvenile justice and behavioral health agencies. Four Oaks and its affiliates serve more then 14,000 kids and families each year in all 99 Iowa counties.
